How often do most people think about sleep? We put on our pyjamas at the end of the day, get in and do our best to get a restful night's sleep - and we never even consider the possibility that the world of sleep isn't quite so simple. But not paying attention to this important area of our lives can be costly. You wouldn't buy the first car that you see at the dealership, right? Well, it's time to start thinking about beds and mattresses the same way. Getting a good night's sleep isn't as easy as grabbing any old mattress and hoping for the best.

Luckily, one group of people spend a lot of time thinking about sleep: the staff at The Sleep Shop. Our highly trained staff are all experts in the world of beds and sleep and are happy to share their knowledge with our customers. Even if you don't know the first thing about mattresses, beds and bedding, at The Sleep Shop you're guaranteed friendly, knowledgeable advice to ensure that you leave happy and well-informed.

The Best Training Programme

What makes a sleep expert? Our Sleep Shop staff start by taking a training course with the National Bed Federation. This is a nationally accredited organisation that offers an interactive training programme which all Sleep Shop staff undertake. Trainees learn all about different types of mattresses and their pros and cons, what kinds of mattress fillings are available and when they should be used, and what the UK's major bed brands have to offer. Just like cars, when it comes to mattresses one size doesn't fit all. Fortunately, our staff are trained in the differences between brands and are able to advise which one is the best for your particular needs.

This in-depth course ends with a number of tests. And these tests aren't easy! Only those who score at least 80% will pass and receive their certificate, at which point they're ready to start helping customers at The Sleep Shop. We keep our standards high for your sake: we don't want anyone advising you without a solid foundation of bed knowledge. You wouldn't buy a car from someone who thinks that all vehicles are the same - and you should have the same policy when you go shopping for a mattress.

Staying up to Date

After completing their training programme and receiving NBF accreditation, our staff are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to beds and mattresses - but we're not content to leave it at that. Mattresses have come a long way over the past few decades, and technology is advancing all the time. We want to make sure that our staff have the most up-to-date knowledge to help you out, so we keep them on their toes by offering continuing professional development.

Staff have the chance to visit the factories run by manufacturers such as SilentNight, so they can see exactly how mattresses and beds are produced. That means that, when you ask one of our team members a question, you can feel confident in their answer. There's nothing like a hands-on factory visit to transform knowledge from the theoretical to the practical!

What's more, we also organise regular classes with trainers who represent the different bed and mattress manufacturers behind our range of products, from Rest Assured to Relyon. Our staff spend years improving their skills and learning all about the world of beds and are happy to help you navigate this confusing field.

How this Helps You

We learn about beds and mattresses so you don't have to. You don't need to be a car expert to buy a car - but you do need to have complete faith in your salesman, and to feel confident that they know what they're talking about, even if you don't. The same is true when it comes to mattresses. We always welcome questions from customers who don't know about which bedding to choose, and we're happy to introduce you to a wide range of brands and different varieties of mattresses.

After all, if you're going to spend 25 years of your life in bed, better make sure it's a comfortable one!
